Dtablet has received a design patent - a significant step toward its launch

Dtablet has recently been granted exclusive rights to the design of its innovative product family, which includes Dtablet Home, Dtablet Week, and Dtablet Day.

This patent marks a significant milestone for the company, which aims to transform how people manage their medications in everyday life. The Norwegian Industrial Property Office has granted design registration for the entire Dtablet product family, providing the company with exclusive rights to its unique design in Norway. With the Norwegian patent obtained, securing international patents will be much easier.

A confirmation of good design and innovation

The patent serves as a formal recognition of the extensive work put into developing these products.

«This confirms that we have created something truly unique. By securing patent rights, we have protected our innovative work in medication management and strengthened our market opportunities,» says founder Hallgrim Bjørvik.

The design patent encompasses the entire product family, granting Dtablet exclusive rights to commercialise its innovative design.

From idea to launch – next steps

Dtablet began development less than a year ago and is now in the final phase of selecting a manufacturing facility for its launch. The company has strategically chosen to focus on developing and launching Dtablet Week initially.

«By concentrating on one version first, we reduce complexity and increase the likelihood of success,» explains Bjørvik.

Dtablet offers a modern solution to an age-old problem. While traditional pillboxes have remained virtually unchanged since the 1950s, Dtablet provides a digital, secure, and user-friendly approach to medication management.

Millions of people take medications outside of hospitals—at home, at work, while travelling, or amid everyday life with small children. The tools available today are outdated and impractical.

«We have designed Dtablet for today's reality,» says Bjørvik.

Solving real problems

The Dtablet system addresses specific challenges related to medication use:

  • Forgotten doses: Helps users remember to take their medications.
  • Uncertainty: Provides a clear overview of what has been taken.
  • Lack of documentation: Makes it easy to track medication use.
  • Unsafe storage: Offers a secure, childproof solution.
  • Limited mobility: Designed to function in unpredictable everyday situations.
  • Stigma: Creates a solution users can utilize with pride.

«The design patent confirms that we are innovating how medications can be managed in everyday life. It was important for us to create something that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing,» concludes Bjørvik.
